Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the football scholarship of his family and service to the community. First, the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children in a Eufala farm. Two football. He is among three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. Also, they won the national title twice. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975, and was named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week throughout his college years. Following college, he relocated in Tampa and played nine years with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. He then began his professional career. In 1988, while working as an account liaison officer for First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as one of the top 10 youths of the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team throughout 1975. In 1993, Roy joined the university of south Florida's sports department as associate director. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
