In 1997, she made her acting debut in 1997 at 13. In 1997, she made her acting debut at the age of 13. Following a variety of courses and performing background work for Canadian series like Road to Avonlea or Harriet the Spy she got her acting role as a speaker on the Canadian children's horror anthology Goosebumps. In addition to commercials as she also appeared in guest roles on movies like Mutant X and Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story. Goosebumps was also a component of her acting career. Vandervoort was able to make her feature film debut in 2006 when she appeared on The Lookout. She starred alongside Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Matthew Goode was also on the show. Vandervoort's television career began with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Then, she was offered the part of Clark Kent's Kryptonian Cousin "Kara Kent", (the woman who will later become Supergirl) and appeared in The CW serial-drama program Smallville. In season two, she was a regular on the show in season seven she also appeared in the "Bloodline" episode of season eight. After that, she appeared for another two episodes in the season ten, and in the finale of Smallville. After The CW and Smallville, Vandervoort then shot the sequel in the feature film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2: The Reef. The Jazzman is her third independent film. The film also featured Canadians Michael Ironside, who appeared in both The second V miniseries and also the regular 1984 V series.
